Help with sending files
This page explains the file transfer form: what to fill in, how to add files, and what happens after you click Send Files.
The form
Your email. Required. We only accept files from businesses and people we know. Your email is never given to any third party or added to any list.
Project name. Required. Use the book title and section; for example, Book Title – Images. The name appears in the notification we receive when your upload finishes, and helps us route the files to the right person.
Message (optional). Anything you would like us to know about the files. No need to repeat anything you are sending us in a dedicated email. Most of the time, a message is probably redundant since we know the book title and a separate email, within the existing email thread, will cover the nitty gritty.
Adding files
You can add files in three ways:
- Drag and drop. Drag files or whole folders from your computer onto the bordered area below the message field.
- Choose files. Click the Choose files button to pick individual files from your computer.
- Choose folder. Click the Choose folder button to add the contents of a folder. The folder structure is preserved in the bundle we receive.
You can mix methods, and you can keep adding files until you click Send files. To remove a file from the list before sending, click the small × at the right of its row.
Sending
Click Send files. The form uploads each file in the background and shows a combined progress percentage. When everything is uploaded, the page changes to Files received. A Bookhouse staff member is notified at that point, usually within a minute.
Limits
The maximum total size for a single submission is 2 GB. Within that limit, individual files of any size are fine, and there is no cap on the number of files.
If you need to send more than 2 GB in one go, please contact us so we can arrange a different way to receive it.
What happens to your files
After upload, your files are bundled into a single archive on our server. A Bookhouse staff member downloads the archive when they begin work on your job. Once that download is complete, the bundle is removed from the server. Files are not stored long-term and are not visible to anyone outside Bookhouse. The upload comes directly to us – no third parties involved.
If something goes wrong
If the upload stops with a red message, the page shows what happened. You can usually retry by clicking Send files again. If a single file keeps failing, remove it with the × and try the rest, then send the problem file separately or contact us.
If the page itself is unreachable, or your browser cannot run JavaScript, please contact us and we will arrange another way to receive your files.
